Campus Updates

Worship on the Ad Building porch.

The iconic pillars of the Sunnydale Adventist Academy Administration Building still welcome visitors, students, and parents to its beautiful campus. But even with this nostalgic view, there is evidence of campus renovation everywhere. From new lamposts around the square to updated benches and landscaping, students can still enjoy the beauty of nature as they study, relax, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Communities around Sunnydale have been replacing dozens if not hundreds of trees due to emerald ash borer, and sadly the trees at Sunnydale have suffered as well. In an effort to protect our buildings and students, several trees have been removed in the last year. The legacy of these trees is not lost on us.

Refurbished benches, lampposts around the Square, & new trashcans from the class of ‘25.

Alumni Weekend will be filled with stories from those who grew up under those trees, possibly helped plant them, or met their life-long friend in their shade. Those memories will live on, and new ones will be made by their successors and your prayers.

The Class of 2025 also contributed to the beautification of campus by purchasing and installing new outdoor trash cans. As well, the Class of 2024 has been working with Sunnydale to replace the weather-ravished triangle as the campus welcome sign. An unveiling is tentatively scheduled for the beginning of the school year.

Another well-loved and memorable figure of Sunnydale is Duane “Shorty” Hass, and his lasting impact on our campus. Many alumni have fond memories of Shorty and his dedication to making our campus beautiful and functional. In memory of his dedication, a donor gave funds for campus improvements. This money was used to restore the maintenance building and woodshop. The buildings will now be more functional and safer for our students as they learn woodworking and other hands-on life skills, and a dedication ceremony will be held upon completion of the remodeling project.

Whatever brings you to our campus–from Camp Meeting to Pathfinders to Music Festival to Alumni Weekend to Registration Day to Graduation Weekend–we hope you will relive fond memories and make new ones surrounded by the blessings God has given!
