Five Themes of Geography Reflection

The Current Event Semester Project was an easy, yet challenging assignment. It challenged the class to dig deeper into current events going on in the world. Many of the teens this day and age do not get into daily or even weekly news, so this was a great opportunity for the students to get more involved with the world. It is difficult to keep up with all the things going on in the world, but with this project, it gave us a chance to see little and big events happening. Events ranging from a little town tussle to current things happening with the presidential situation. One example being about the music platform in the world today. Many students wrote about music artists, and their effect on the world today. It is easy to get caught up in what everyone else is listening to, but is that the right thing to do? It is right to listen to someone that claims to be Christian, but their lyrics say different? These are things to consider before getting wrapped up in the society in today's history.
Overall, this project was a great assignment to get us teens involved. Many after the project now are keeping up with the things going on, and diving deeper. This project has taught the class to not just rely on social media platforms to update them, but to actually go on the news, or other sources and see what exactly is going on. Sometimes these events are heading towards affecting the area around where students are, so it is important to keep up. Another lesson learned is to not just rely on random articles or websites that give information. Many are false so you have to find those reliable sources to write reflections on. This project was a great learning experience, a great one for people this age.
