Who is Someone You Emulate? By Bryanna Lopez
Many people have a role model that they want to be or be like. Since I was a little girl, I always wanted to be just like my mother. Because of this I believe that I emulate my mother. My mother is the person I look up to the most. She is the strongest person I know and she made all things possible for my brother and I. Although I am young, I have experienced many things and due to her mindset and method of parenting, I have been able to react with strength and display the same attitude she has. Not only is she strong, but my mom is driven and smart. Her work ethic is my example and I always try my best to display the same hard working characteristics in everything I do. An example of this is through my life skills, part-time job, and in ASB. Because of her intelligence, I have poured my heart into learning as much as possible and exceeding in things such as my grades, GPA, and National Honors Society. I am inspired to display all the amazing qualities she has and will never stop trying to mimic her beautiful soul. However, my end goal is to not mimic my mother but to be better. Although that sounds very strange, I want to complete all the things my mother wasn't given the opportunity to do. Because she became a mother at the age of nineteen, she in a sense was robbed of her youth. Due to this, I want to go and explore the world, get a degree, and do many more things. I want to display her character to the world and break our family cycle. I want to break our generational traumas and create a stable household through me. In the end, I want to bring my family up financially, spiritually, and to all the best things possible. Overall, I believe that I can surpass her in ways that she wasn’t able to but not because I am “better” but because she set up the path for me to do so.
